Surrey Fusion Festival 2018

Every year the City of Surrey (on the edges of Greater Vancouver) puts on a fantastic international fusion festival. Best of all, its completely free to attend! In a world where nothing is free, its a nice change of pace to enjoy an amazing day out without burning a hole in the wallet.

The Fusion Festival is a show case of many different foods and cultures from around the world and Surrey's multicultural nature makes it the perfect city to host such an event. Here you can find so many different types of amazing foods and drinks and showcases of various cultures by the proud vendors. There are also educational stands throughout the festival so you have the chance to fully immerse yourself in the many different cultures on display.

There is also a sporting and kids area, fun photo booths, and an amazing array of international bands and dancing groups, and even some fun Zumba classes to join into.

This year, the 11th year running, the headlining band was the internationally acclaimed Walk Off The Earth. A fun and talented band from Ontario which uses an incredible variety of instruments and household items to perform their original song as well as some really fun covers. They really get the crowd into the spirit of the music and encourage the crowd wide singalong which creates fun and joy for all. And yes, its still all FREE!!

The weekend long festival has been an annual occurrence for the past 11 years, and hopefully for many more. Its a true testament to the multicultural and welcoming nature of the city of Surrey and is such a fun day out. By allowing everyone to enjoy the event for free its really becomes this inclusive event where you get the chance to enjoy and learn about other cultures and music you may not have seen if you had to spend your hard earned cash to buy a ticket. If in the future you get the chance to visit Vancouver at the end of July, remember to check out this event as its a must see!
