From early May to October every year in the City of Richmond, Vancouver, you will find the spectacular Richmond Night Markets. Running very Friday, Saturday and Sunday from around 7pm till midnight, this market is an eclectic collection of food, drinks and fun.
With various food vendors from around the world, you are sure to find something to please the pallet. But by far the most interesting are the drinks! There are some really wild and fancy libations available, including fruity concoctions in watermelons and pineapples, smoky drinks made with dry ice, light bulb drinks of various colours and flavours and so many more interesting and beautiful tropical style drinks,
Its such a fun and energetic environment. There are sideshow style games and small children's rides as well as a fun interactive themed section, with this years theme being Dinosaurs (to coincide with the Jurassic Park movie phenomenon this year).
There's also a few rows of stalls dedicated to small crafts and wares including such things as jewelry, soaps, clothing, toys, jams, crystals and so much more.
The market can get quite crowded too so be prepared to be a little squashed at times. The only major downside of the markets though is the line for admission. This line can be huge, depending on what time you decide to arrive. With the nominal fee of only $4.25 for adults and free for children and seniors, its a very popular even so prepared for waits of up to an hour. There is a way around this though. There are people around the front and the car parks that will walk around and sell value visit punch cards for around $25. This seams like a lot considering the normal price is only $4.25 however with the punch card you actually get 6 entries into the night markets. You can either use all 6 yourself over the course of the season, or you can take other people and they can use it as well e.g. you and 5 friends etc. Its also a fast pass so no lines, you can pretty much walk straight in so its a pretty good investment.
